Libertas Academy Charter School is a free and public charter school and we provide specialized services to students with academic and behavioral exceptionalities as well as students for whom English is not their first language.

All new applications for this school year are due every 3rd Friday of the month and the Lottery will be held every 1st of the month until February 1st.

Enrollment is based on our random, public lottery. However, siblings of current students have preference over other applicants. Children residing in Springfield receive priority over other applicants. Any student who meets the following two criteria are eligible to apply:
- The student is a resident of Massachusetts. Preference will be given to students residing in Springfield and to siblings of current students.
- The student must have successfully completed the previous grade to be admitted into the grade s/he is applying for at LACS.
Students are randomly selected by lottery. Names not chosen to fill open seats will be placed in order on a waitlist and families will be contacted should a seat become available.

Frequently Asked Enrollment Questions
The first lottery for the 2027-28 school year will be held on March 4, 2027 at Libertas Academy Charter School. The second lottery will take place on April 27, 2027.
Following each lottery event, the Director of Student Recruitment & Family Engagement will contact all prospective families via email and phone to notify them of their child's acceptance status. It is during this time that families will receive further information about how to accept the offer and enroll.
The lottery is open to the public. Attendance at the lottery has no impact on a student’s chances of being selected.
A member of our team will contact you via phone and email within 48 hours of being offered a seat to discuss next steps. This conversation will include invitations to upcoming school events and information on how to complete our enrollment packet, provide proof of residency in Springfield, MA, apply for transportation, and more!
All students not accepted will be placed on a waiting list. Please make sure to let Libertas Academy know if your contact information changes.

Students who live 2.1 or greater miles from Libertas Academy Charter School will receive bus transportation provide through our partnership with Springfield Public Schools. All students are welcome to apply, however we cannot guarantee transportation - SPS makes the decision based on your student’s address.
Our hours of operation are 7:30 A.M. - 3:20 P.M.
Yes, students wear a uniform at Libertas Academy Charter School. You can find uniform information in the the Lower Academy Family Handbook guidelines and the Upper Academy Family Handbook.
Yes, we accept students who transfer who have IEP or 504 documentation. As part of the enrollment process, we work closely with families to describe our program and address that it best aligns with students’ academic needs. During the year, we also work with families to identify special academic needs of all our students. Our teachers and Child Study Team are trained to individually educate all students in the classroom, to identify necessary Tier 1 and Tier 2 accommodations through our response to intervention process, and to identify when more advanced academic services are necessary. We are here and eager to support our students as needed.
