Libertas Academy Charter School is a free and public charter school and we provide specialized services to students with academic and behavioral exceptionalities as well as students for whom English is not their first language.

All new applications for this school year are due every 3rd Friday of the month and the Lottery will be held every 1st of the month until February 1st.

Enrollment is based on our random, public lottery. However, siblings of current students have preference over other applicants. Children residing in Springfield receive priority over other applicants. Any student who meets the following two criteria are eligible to apply: (1) The student is a resident of Massachusetts. (Note: Preference will be given to students residing in Springfield and to siblings of current students.); (2) The student must have successfully completed the previous grade to be admitted into the grade s/he is applying for at LACS. Students are randomly selected by lottery. Names not chosen to fill open seats will be placed in order on a waitlist and families will be contacted should a seat become available.

Frequently Asked Enrollment Questions

When is the lottery?

The first lottery for the 2025-26 school year was held on March 7th, 2025 at Libertas Academy Charter School. Following each lottery event, the Director of Student Recruitment & Family Engagement will contact all prospective families via email and phone to notify them of their child's acceptance status. It is during this time that families will receive further information about how to accept the offer and enroll.

Yes, we accept students who transfer who have IEP or 504 documentation. As part of the enrollment process, we work closely with families to describe our program and address that it best aligns with students’ academic needs. During the year, we also work with families to identify special academic needs of all our students. Our teachers and Child Study Team are trained to individually educate all students in the classroom, to identify necessary Tier 1 and Tier 2 accommodations through our response to intervention process, and to identify when more advanced academic services are necessary. We are here and eager to support our students as needed.
